Award-Winning Ducis & Everleigh Village Show – 10th September 2011

The Award-Winning Ducis and Everleigh Village Show (DEVS) is run by a committee of enthusiastic people from the Parish villages of Collingbourne Ducis and Everleigh which nestle in Northeast Wiltshire on the edge of Salisbury Plain. The Committee is aided by volunteers from St Andrew's Church, neighbouring villages and local clubs and organisations. This year's show information is once again available on-line on our web site at www.devshow.co.uk. In May 2011 the Show was awarded the Tesco Prize for Fundraising in the Tidworth Area Community Awards for their outstanding work in raising over £7500 in the two years 2009 and 2010. The Committee plans to continue their excellent work this year in providing another great day out for all the family and to raise funds again for the local community, charities and the church.

The Show, as in previous years, will take place in the Collingbourne Ducis Village Hall and Recreation Grounds and will begin with the Show doors opening at 12.30pm and the official Opening at 1.00pm. The proceeds from the Show will be divided amongst Clubs, Societies and Organisations involved with the Show, St Andrews Church and four charities, namely Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Help for Heroes, The Collingbourne Ducis Village Hall Trust and The Link Scheme.

The Show Opening will be hosted by the Show Chairman, Mr Robert East, and our special guest Mrs Jenny Mears, the local Liaison Officer for Help for Heroes and the MC for the day is our old friend Baz Riley from Castledown Radio.

Show Chairman Robert East said: "Following the last two very successful shows we are aiming once again to arrange an afternoon which will provide fun, entertainment and something of interest to everyone. Given our proximity to the local garrisons and the training area, we aim to give the show a military flavour. This year we have been very fortunate to engage the services of the Pipes and Drums from 19 Regiment Royal Artillery (The Highland Gunners), which will be a great treat – not to be missed". There will also be all the drama and excitement of a Donkey Derby, (last seen in Collingbourne Ducis Show some 16 years ago), displays by the pupils of the Collingbourne Primary School, a Tug of War between local teams and a display of Vintage and Classic Cars.

Other main attractions during the day will be the Flower and Produce Show organised by the Collingbournes and Everleigh Gardening Club and the ever-popular Fun Dog Show organised on behalf of the committee by Caroline Lee.

In addition to the produce, trade and art stalls, there will be numerous traditional sideshows including: a children's Fair Ground Ride, Bouncy Castle, Skittles, Putting, Coconut Shy, Bottle Stall, White Elephant, Book Stall, Cake Stall & Raffle etc.,

Refreshments & a Licensed Bar will be available outside throughout the event, while outstandingly good cream teas will be available in the Village Hall to the accompaniment of musical entertainment.

The Fun Dog Show and the Flower and Produce Show schedules are available on-line on our web site.
